Based close to Chiang Rai city, northern Thailand, Bamboo Watch is providing scholarship-education and practical local-support to underprivileged and mostly parentless HIV/AIDS infected or effected children.
The original project was established in 2006 - Bamboo Watch received official Thai government foundation status in January 2009.
The number of children sharing in BWF programmes is currently 216; the youngest is 5 years old – the oldest 19.
Children usually live in their family villages with surviving relatives, often elderly grandparents. They attend local or nearby schools and grow up with their childhood friends.
BWF operates throughout all 18 of the Chiang Rai municipal districts and works with over 120 schools. The Foundation is also committed to working closely with the region’s social, economic and environmental fabric.
BWF funding relies entirely upon the generosity of donations and grant sponsorship.
